Press Conference at Halklarin Koprusu

At a press conference held today at Halklarin Korprusu's headquarters in Izmir, lawyers and human rights activists expressed their concerns in respects to the protection and health of refugees in Turkey. Listing UNHCR, Amnesty International, Doctors without Borders and International Rescue Committee as organisations that have condemned the EU-Turkey deal, Dr. Prof. Cem Terzi, President of Halklarin Korprusu, underlined that concerns regarding human rights is not within the scope of the agreement. At the same meeting, Lawyers investigating specific asylum cases expressed the difficulty in detention centre access to meet with refugees, making these new procedures lack transparency and accountability.
